KEY FACTS:

Frederick House is a student housing project comprising 6 blocks up to 4 stories high of cluster flats and town houses.

The project involves the re-development of a site containing a dilapidated office building constructed in the 1960s and the reuse of of a former Guard House fronting Fulford Road in York. It’s close proximity to York’s city centre and the University of York minimises travel time for students and allows them to experience the vibrant heart of the city.

HWA provided engineering services from pre-purchase, due diligence and through the successful planning process after which the site was sold.

The site has a fascinating history, with it initially being developed in 1795 as part of a large cavalry barracks used for housing troops. These soldiers were then sent to America to prevent it from becoming independent from the British empire in the American Revolutionary war.
