Work starts on site at new care Home in New Lubbersthorpe

In collaboration with Blaby District Council and Leicestershire County Council, in 2008 the Drummond Estate made proposals for a major new community. The new town would be set in 325 acres of parklands and wetlands south of Leicester Forest East owned by the Drummond Estate. The vision for New Lubbersthorpe was to create a sustainable haven, addressing the pressing need for new homes, employment opportunities, and essential services in the region.

With plans approved in 2014, the realisation of this vision is well underway, and over 700 homes are already occupied. The development partners are dedicated to preserving the intrinsic qualities of the local environment, including its rich landscape, historical significance, and diverse ecology. Despite the ongoing work, New Lubbersthorpe is emerging as a sought-after residential destination in the heart of the East Midlands. Its idyllic countryside location offers residents the dual benefit of serene surroundings and easy access to Leicester city centre, just a 20-minute commute away.

Working with Wynbrook Ltd and Franklin Ellis Architects, we are providing civil and structural engineering consultancy services for a new care home. The 66 bedroom facility, will be located in a small mixed-use area next to the Primary School, which welcomed its first group of students in September 2019. The development also encompasses two-story retail units, complemented by a medical centre on the first floor. Upon completion, these last components will culminate in the creation of the vibrant Tay Road feature square, enhancing the community’s vitality and cohesion.
