Welcome to Dan Bain

We are pleased to introduce the newest member of our team, Technician Dan Bain.

Dan brings over 7 years of experience as a CAD technician to our company. His journey began as a 17 year old apprentice, driven by a passion for the built environment. This early start led him to earn an HNC in ‘Professional Construction in the Built Environment’. His initial interest in the field was sparked during a week of work experience in school, where he discovered his enjoyment for the work. Inspired by his grandfather, an ‘old-school’ draughtsman, Dan decided to follow in his footsteps to pursue a career in this field.

Dan is enthusiastic about his career progression, particularly since joining HWA. He aims to become a senior technician, leveraging his strong attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and excellent communication skills to achieve this goal.

One of Dan’s recent notable achievements is his role as the lead technician on a substation project for National Grid. He effectively managed his team and set deadlines to ensure the project was completed on time. Dan takes pride in his calm and organised approach to every task, which consistently results in high-quality outcomes.

Dan’s advice to young people starting apprenticeships in the engineering industry is to persevere and take full advantage of every opportunity. He believes that patience and continuous experience are key to skill improvement, and he embodies this principle by never missing an opportunity to attend CPD or training courses for his own professional development.

We asked Dan how he has found his first few weeks with us and he said “so far, so good. Everyone in the office has made me feel so welcome which I really appreciate. Knowing a few people from previous places of work has helped with this”.

We are excited to have Dan on our team and look forward to the contributions he will make to our projects.
