Supporting our local animal shelter in Radcliffe on Trent
We recently had the pleasure of spending a day volunteering at our local animal shelter in Radcliffe on Trent, supporting the incredible team who work tirelessly to care for animals in need.
While the shelter shares the values of the RSPCA, it operates completely independently and relies heavily on donations from the local community to continue its vital work. We were delighted to contribute by bringing a selection of much-needed items, including blankets, bedding, food, and toys.
Many of the tasks businesses can help with, such as gardening and outdoor maintenance, make a real difference. By assisting with these jobs, we help free up the shelter’s volunteers to focus on what matters most, caring for the animals who depend on them every day.
Our team split into 2 groups for the morning. One group took on fence-painting duties, while the other got stuck into gardening and watering. With the recent dry weather, maintaining the outdoor areas was especially important to ensure the grounds remained safe and suitable for exercising the animals.
After lunch, we were treated to a very special experience, spending some time with a few of the shelter’s dogs. The team takes great care to ensure the animals aren’t overwhelmed, so the dogs were carefully selected to enjoy some extra attention, playtime, and cuddles.
We also visited the cattery, where we spent time with some tiny kittens who needed additional human interaction to help prepare them for adoption, as well as others who were simply waiting to meet their forever families.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors, work together, and support a truly worthwhile cause. Of course, the chance to spend time cuddling dogs and kittens was an added bonus! We’re also happy to report that nobody attempted to leave with a puppy under their arm or a kitten tucked away in their pocket.
