September sees us welcoming engineer Michelly Santana to the HWA team, bringing a wealth of site work experience and a strong academic background in civil engineering from Brazil.
Driven by her passion for mathematics and physics, civil engineering was a natural career choice. After relocating to the UK, Michelly further advanced her career by exploring civil engineering concepts that were new to her, expanding her expertise beyond what she encountered in Brazil.
One of Michelly’s career highlights in Brazil was managing and supervising construction in a historic city centre, where she successfully navigated the complexities of working within a historically sensitive environment.
Her technical skills include proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroDrainage, and she is currently expanding her skillset by learning Causeway Flow and Site3D. Michelly takes great satisfaction in transforming proposed site plans into comprehensive drainage solutions and external works that are tailored to each project’s needs.
Michelly is highly ambitious, with a clear goal of progressing to a director role, and she actively works towards this aspiration. Her proactive and determined mindset serves as an inspiration, particularly to young girls, demonstrating that a career in engineering can be both rewarding and a pathway to leadership. Michelly’s advice to others in the field is to always meticulously analyse every piece of information available.
Michelly is an enthusiastic and passionate engineer, and her enthusiasm and ambition is already contributing positively to the team.
