Retirement for our longest serving employee

After a remarkable 25-year journey with us, Principal Engineer Richard Thompson is embarking on a new chapter and retiring from his illustrious career.

Richard’s journey in engineering begun in 1985, following his graduation from the University of Swansea with a first-class honours degree in Civil Engineering. Over the course of 38 years, he honed his skills and expertise, becoming an integral part of our structural reporting team.

Richard’s impact on our team extended beyond his technical skills. With his quick wit and ability to conjure up pithy remarks in any situation, he brought a distinct and memorable element to his professional journey with us.

Richard’s contributions extend far outside the confines of our office walls. His professionalism, vast knowledge, and remarkable dowsing rod skills (!) have earned him admiration from our clients, who have paid tribute to his unwavering commitment and exceptional service. His legacy is one of excellence, leaving an indelible imprint on the projects he touched and the people he worked with.

As we bid farewell to Richard, we celebrated his 25 years of service with a tribute at our end-of-year staff meeting, delving into the past, unearthing photographs from various social events over the years. This was followed by a lunchtime visit to the pub, where we all paid homage to his distinctive trademark look.

To Richard, we are extending our heartfelt wishes for a retirement that is filled with joy, relaxation, and the pursuit of new adventures. As you embark on this well-deserved chapter of your life, know that your impact on our team and the field of structural engineering is being remembered fondly.
