We’re pleased to be working for Nottingham Trent University assisting them with the demolition of this site where a restaurant was severely damaged by fire in 2010, the cause of which was never determined because the site was too dangerous to enter. To assist the university in understanding the issues with the demolition, we undertook an initial external visual inspection to assess as far as reasonably possible, any areas of immediate concern with regard to safety and stability. We were also able to assess potential methods for achieving the safe demolition of the structure including any potential implications for the neighbouring properties.
The university purchased the partially burned building in September 2016 and are having it demolished prior to regeneration of the site.Suggestions from local students for its new use have typically included a student social space with TVs and quiet areas, McDonalds/cheap food outlets or even a nightclub. The site is adjacent to the Rescue Rooms whose owners are delighted it is finally being regenerated.
