This new, mixed use development is an important part of the revitalisation of Providence Place Square, redeveloping a previously underutilised retail site. The 5 story reinforced concrete framed building incorporates 156 bedrooms and 450m2 of retail space.
This project marks the regeneration of a previously neglected inner-city site, including a new dual aspect which brings improvements to the Providence Place and St Peters Street area of Brighton and an improved retail offering to London Road.
Our involvement in this project spanned from the initial due diligence and demolition phases, through to the planning, procurement, construction and handover stages. Negotiation of a ‘Build Over Agreement’ with Southern Water for a historic cast iron sewer running through the site and addressing Party Wall situations involving ‘Bungaroosh’ in the properties adjacent to the development added to the interest of this project.
Achieving a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating of ‘Excellent’, the project includes many sustainable features such as air source heat pumps, planted outdoor spaces, solar panels and a green roof.
The project was completed on target for occupation in September 2024.
