Upperdale Farm, Monsal Dale

Upperdale Farm is part of the Chatsworth Estate and provides holiday accommodation in the heart of Monsal Dale, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Peak District.

This project involved the conversion of two previously redundant agricultural buildings into high quality holiday cottages, to operate alongside existing holiday lets on the site. Our role began with a detailed structural appraisal of the existing buildings in order to identify defects and establish the feasibility of the scheme. We then moved to the detailed designs, which included complex underpinning of an area of the building which retains the site boundary and public highway beyond. We also designed foul and surface water systems in an area immediately adjacent to the river where groundwater levels are routinely very close to the surface.
The two cottages now provide an attractive addition to the client’s offering of holiday accommodation.
