This scheme involved the construction of a 53 bed nursing home on a busy main road into Nottingham City Centre.

Appointed by the contractor Wynbrook Limited, we worked closely with the architect Sutherland Craig to deliver a successful building on what was a very challenging split level site.

At the outset, a fundamental issue involved the diversion of an existing public sewer. We undertook complex hydraulic modelling in conjunction with discussions with Severn Trent Water to agree the details, which were constrained further by other existing features around the site and the need to maximise the area remaining available for development.

An existing public house on the site had to be largely demolished although our design involved the retention of the cellar area in order to provide economic retaining structure for the adjacent main highway.
