Inventors and Innovators- INWED22

International Women in Engineering Day, also known as INWED began in the UK in 2014 and it falls on 23rd June each year. This international awareness campaign raises the profile of the great achievements and work women in the Engineering industry do by focusing attention on the amazing career opportunities available to women in this exciting industry. Sadly, statistics show women are still heavily underrepresented in Engineering.

To celebrate Women in Engineering we spoke to one of our talented senior engineers, Theodora Francis, about her experience as a woman in the industry. Theodora graduated with a BEng Hons in Civil Engineering and is a Graduate member of the institution of Civil Engineers.

Theodora says “I have always been interested in pursuing a career in Engineering. I have an uncle who is a Civil Engineer, and he inspired me to become an Engineer. I believe being a female engineer brings diversity in the workplace and provides a different perspective.”

Hopefully Theodora and other women in the industry will encourage more women in the future to take up Engineering.
