The foundations have been dug and the steel frame of a new Baptist Church in Dunchurch, near Rugby has been fabricated and erected. Designed by HWA, this is the first stage in the construction of a new place of worship on a site where one has stood since 1834. Over the intervening years the church has been refurbished and extended, along with the burial ground alongside. In the late 1960’s it was taken down completely and rebuilt, but by 2014 refurbishment was again required. A new vision was developed to increase space for worship once again, along with separate rooms for church meetings, youth activities, improved kitchen facilities and a space to be shared with the local community.
Working with the Trustees of Dunchurch Baptist Church, CPL Chartered Architects and Greswold Construction, HWA are delighted to be involved in the project and, as well as structural engineering design, have provided civil engineering consultancy services for a challenging drainage strategy which was required for the protection of the nearby burial ground.
